Local musical heroes, Orange Grove, will take the stage as the openers for the final evening of this year’s regatta.

Orange Grove, the home grown band that has swept Europe, will give their “first” fans, the St. Maarten public, what promises to be an incredible performance and a taste of how much the band has grown since their last performance here.

Named after the “Orange Grove” section of Cole Bay, the band Orange Grove is a musical melting pot of cross-ocean influences combining the sounds of Reggae music with zouk, ska, rap and rock, complimented by St Maarten raised lead-singer Michael Maidwell’s rough yet soothing voice. These elements combined with a group of five professional musicians, all with strong roots in the Caribbean, lead to a positive and upbeat experience while listening to Orange Grove.

The long-awaited official debut album was released in 2007, featuring new unique OG melodies in addition to some of the classic Orange Grove songs. Previous releases have been highly successful in the Antilles and over the Internet. Through music download platforms some of the songs have been downloaded over 500,000 times.

In the past year, Orange Grove has been playing in their new and solid formation gaining a reputation of a highly professional band ensuring any crowd to be unable to resist moving to their lively performance.

You can hear Orange Grove throughout the month on most of the island radio stations, and they also are featured in Heineken’s locally produced radio jingle “Hey Mister Bartender”.

The music seems to strike a chord with a very broad audience, allowing Orange Grove to be accepted by a wide variety of crowds, as the pop, reggae, urban and rock scene have embraced their music. In the course of five years Orange Grove has consequently developed a large and devoted following of fans.

The international headliner to close the St Maarten Heineken Regatta is soon to be announced!!! Get Ready for some “Serious Fun”.
