Heineken St. Maarten announces Shurwayne Winchester and the Top local bands and DJ’s to perform at the 27th St. Maarten Heineken Regatta.

Heineken St. Maarten in cooperation with the Sint Maarten Yacht Club, announces one more international artist to the 27th ST. Maarten Heineken Regatta line-up. This will complement the well-rounded list of the top local bands and DJ's to perform at this year's St. Maarten Heineken Regatta

Shurwayne Winchester  will be the top Soca act for the Front de la Mer party in Marigot on Saturday March 3rd.  Shurwayne, who is blessed with a great singer's voice, was born in Tobago on February 8th, 1974. He entered the world of Soca in 1999, his performance garnered rave reviews and was deemed "Most Dynamic" by the press that year.  That same year he released his album "Rumor Riddims" which stayed on the top of the charts for seven months.

His 1999/2000 famous releases "Avanelle", "Wine Down", and "Who Say" exceeded his previous successes. His first solo album, "Under My Spell", was released in January 2002 and was the hit of the Trinidad Carnival 2002. Of course his 2003 carnival hit "Baby Love" took off immediately and became one of the requested songs for the ladies.  In 2005, with "Jamin all night " and "Give Thanks", Shurwayne received "Songwriter of the Year" and "Song of the Year" awards for "The Band Coming" awards.  In addition, Shurwayne also received the "Song of the Year Award" at the annual Soca Awards held at the prestigious Queen's Hall in Trinidad.

So arrive early, and get your Heineken Soca rags and come see Shurwayne and Youthwaves in Marigot in this year's edition of the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta.

The previously announced line up of international artists (Damian Marley & Stephen Marley, Orange Grove, Ziggi and Shurwayne Winchester) will be complemented by a broad selection of the islands finest local bands & DJ's.

The Boardwalk in Philipsburg will be the showground on Friday March 2nd. On three different stages we can enjoy a music festival featuring various artists and music styles to be admired and enjoyed including:

On Saturday Night in Marigot both Youth Waves and Top A de Top DJ Blaze will be on stage to precede Shurwyane Winchester.

The final Prize Giving Party on Kim Sha Beach on Sunday March 4th will have Blend and DJ Kid before prize giving starts at 6.00pm. After that, both previous Heineken Green Synergy Winners Cutcreator DJ Outkast (winner in 2006 and 2004) and Mixmaster Pauly (winner in 2005) will give a joint DJ performance on main stage. That same night, Orange Grove is welcomed back to the island as the opening act for Damian Marley and Stephen Marley - this year's Heineken Regatta headliners.
